Paeonies / Peonies

Whichever way you spell it, these are gorgeous flowers. A highlight of springtime in any garden

And they also look good in black and white

Blossom time

My favourite thing about Spring is watching the blossoms come out on the fruit trees. Beautiful in their own right but also a promise of things to come.

Taken in the garden. I’m really pleased with this photo – and that doesn’t happen often!

KoŇ°ice’s botanic gardens

The botanic gardens are a little way outside the city centre, but easily accessible by bus – although when you get off the bus you have to look hard to see the signs. I spent a happy afternoon there wandering among the plants and trees. I was particularly impressed by their collection of chilli plants – who knew there were black chillis! A small herd of goats – and one sheep – were wandering around chewing everything they could get close enough to, and they added a certain charm, as did some chickens. Very good value for just 2 Euros admission fee – and 1 Euro extra for a pass to take photos.

Home sweet home

So my trip to the Faroes is over. During the past two weeks I’ve met some amazing people and I have some amazing memories. I also have some souvenirs. The puffin was a birthday present from my colleagues on team Klaksvik and will be treasured. I miss them all.

Lulu was pleased to see me and was sticking close beside me – until it got dark (hello darkness my old friend!) and took off for a night of adventure. After the initial love-fest she wasn’t shy about demanding food.

My vegetable patch went a little bit crazy while I was away, but my tomatoes look amazing!

Back to work tomorrow – I have to make some money to pay for my next campaign…
