The weekend starts here

on July 5, 2014

Friday started quietly enough. A bit foggy in the morning but by lunchtime the sun had come out and it was a lot warmer. We started off by the wind turbines where some people had kindly dumped a pizza box for us to pick up. There is a lot of rubbish here in some of the most beautiful areas. It seems that people just can’t visit a beautiful place without dumping something there – a pizza box, drink bottles or cartons, etc. One of the team is also gathering an impressive collection of used shotgun shells, so shooting is obviously also a popular hobby.

The afternoon passed peacefully enough, and I saw my first puffins. They were in the water and flying around by some high cliffs, so no close ups, but it was still exciting to see them.

We continued to patrol until late afternoon

On the way back to the house we encountered a bridal party by one of the local viewing points. The bride, obviously enjoying her special day, took time out to give us one of those interesting hand signals. Classy. We returned to the house for some dinner – Nils made an excellent chili.

And then this happened across the road from our house

We had no idea what they were up to – probably making a student movie, but it kept us entertained for a while. And yes, one of the ladies has a tail. Further entertainment was provided later in the evening by the guy in the green BMW who made a point of driving by at least 5 times just to give us an interesting hand signal each time, and later a group of screaming teenagers who were shouting and yes, giving us some interesting hand signals. Never a dull moment on team Klaksvik.
