Setting the juice loose

on June 8, 2014

I got a juicer from the local junk shop last week – a bargain at just 5 Euro. It has a nice retro look but only seems to date back to around 1994 judging by the receipt.

Since then I’ve been juicing madly, with mixed results. I have discovered that juicers do not like cherries, even if the pits are removed first. And it’s not all that keen on herbs either. And that some juice combinations, such as apple and watermelon, turn out to be a horrible unappetising colour. But there have been successes:

Here we have watermelon and pear, which came out a lovely pink colour

And apple and cucumber was a nice green, which separated prettily in the glass

The experimenting will continue. And all for a fraction of the price of the juice available in the supermarkets.
