Blansko from A to Z. T is for…

on June 1, 2013

Twins. Blansko seems to have an unusually high number of twins. I don’t know why. Most of those I’ve seen are young kids, under around 13, but maybe that’s because children that age are more likely to be out and about together rather than separately.

T is also for trees. Lots and lots of trees. Blansko is surrounded by forests which are accessible to the public. Within 20 minutes of leaving my house I can be off the beaten track surrounded by trees with just the sound of the wind in the leaves, running water in the streams and the songs of the birds for company. Blissful. The timber industry is also very active around Blansko, and a lot of trees are cut down and shipped to other parts of the country by train. In addition, due to the very high price of gas and electricity, a lot of people prefer to use wood-burning stoves rather than central heating, so a lot of houses have piles of logs outside.
