It’s in the jeans…

on September 5, 2012

I went shopping in Brno yesterday, with the intention of buying some flat shoes and some jeans. As a curvy (fat), person I hate buying clothes so every time I do it I have to really work up my courage and remember that shops have mirrors that are specially adjusted to make customers look horrible.

Armed with that thought I innocently wandered into a shop that said it sold jeans, thinking that I might be able to get some jeans there. The male shop assistant was ok, and spoke English, but his female colleague was a complete cow! Picture me, curvy/fat, over 40, minimalmakeup, hair in a mess as usual, standing in the shop as this “person”, small, skinny, blonde wearing about a ton of makeup and matching scowl looked me up and down with an expression that said “are you f***in serious? You want me to find jeans to fit that?” She then proceeded to pull out several pairs of skinny low-rise jeans that wouldn’t fit a beanpole, installed me in the dressing room and gave me around 30 seconds to try each pair on before throwing the curtain open and demanding “well?”.

I gathered my dignity as best I could, smiled sweetly at her and left. Then I went round the corner where I found a branch of good old C&A(!) and bought two pairs of jeans, that not only fit me but are even comfortable. please note – these are not fat lady jeans with elasticated waists, these are normal jeans. And the best thing about buying them was knowing that little bitchy blondie in the shop around the corner would not be getting any commission out of my purchase. That’ll show her.

The shoe-buying was deferred for another day. There’s only so much crap I can take at one time. But the jeans are great. Thank you C&A.

Wondered where C&As had got to! Glad you got sorted out, now go lie down or drink that lemon beer!
