A new beginning

on September 2, 2012

Despite my best intentions I have just not been able to find time to update my blog during the past few months. So here’s what’s been going on.

1. I finished my job at Bolton College in July. Absolutely loved working there, and could have gone back in September but I wanted to move away from Bolton and have some new experiences. The staff and students at Bolton were brilliant and it was a fab place to work in my first teaching job.

2. My house is no longer mine! After being on the market since October 2011 I found a buyer and the sale was completed in late August. Which was just as well because I was running out of money and had no clue how I would pay the mortgage over the next few months. I decided to just not worry about it and take things as they came, and thankfully everything got completed in the end. Not without a lot of stress admittedly, but I’ve pretty much forgotten it now that it’s over and done with. I got the news that the contracts had been exchanged after I’d gone ahead and moved out of the house, put all my stuff in storage and was on the ferry to Ireland to spend a week with my parents.

3. I spent time in Ireland and caught up with family. Having had the news that the sale of my house had gone through I was hugely relieved and pretty much just crashed out while I was in Ireland. I only really realise how stressed I’ve been until it goes away and then I just kind of deflate and try to get my energy back. it was nice to be able to spend time with my family and just be in Ireland, even though the weather was really crappy. And then…

4. I found a new job and moved to the Czech Republic to take it. More on this to come in my next post. It’s a huge relief to have found a job. Moving to a country where I don’t speak the language is something I’ve always wanted to do and now I’m doing it! So I’m hoping to blog a lot more about how things are going and how I’m adapting to my new job and a new culture.

Hiya chuck! Wish I’d known you were leaving, it would have been nice to have a get together over a cup o’ tea! Really hope things work out well on your new adventure. Sue oxo
