Vegan baking

on July 1, 2012

One of the few difficulties I’ve had since taking the step from vegetarian to vegan is giving up cake. I admit it, I’m a cakeaholic. So I was really pleased when I tried a couple of recipes from Isa Chandra Moskowitz’s cookbooks and they worked out really well. Here’s a picture of the scones I made yesterday:

I’ve also tried the recipe for Raspberry Chocolate Blackout cake and it was delicious! And it kept for the week it took me to eat it and didn’t get stale, hard or nasty in any way. So I thoroughly recommend her recipes to any vegans with a sweet tooth.

The books I’ve got (so far) are Vegan with a Vengeance and Vegan Brunch. Also check out Isa’s website Post Punk Kitchen.

Now can anyone advise me how to pronounce her first name – is it Isa as in “eye-sah” or Isa as in “ee-sah”? Recommending books can be difficult if you can’t pronounce the author’s name!
